For the seek of relief to the food business operator from the long procedure to taking registration or license under governmental department for doing the production, distribution and transportation of food products, the ministry of health & family welfare, which is one of the ministry of government of india established a specific independent organization named as food safety and standards authority of india (fssai) .
The registration under fssai is one of the most important registrations for all food business operator.
Every large manufacturers, importers, exporters working at large-scale food business need to take FSSAI registration from central government (CG) and FBO with small to medium sized manufacturing units, transporters, marketers, traders, etc., need to take FSSAI registration from the state government (SG).
The persons or entity who is treating as Food business operators are:-
1.) All the food business operator who are selling packaged or freshly prepared food by travelling on movable cart or foot from one location to other.
2.) All Small scale or cottage industries relating to food business or tiny food businesses with an annual turnover not exceeding RUPEES twelve lakhs.
3.) All those small scale or cottage industries which are specifically dealing in food business or tiny food businesses and whose Production capacity of food (other than milk and milk products and meat and meat products) does not exceed hundred kg/ltr per day or
4.) All those small scale or cottage industries which are specifically dealing in food business or tiny food businesses and Procurement or handling and collection of milk is up to five hundred litres of milk per day or slaughtering capacity is two large animals or ten small animals or fifty poultry birds per day or less.
